Hear me out

Alright. Ready?

A peplum belt.

Wait, wait, wait. You see, it'll be like any old waist cinching belt, BUT, with the added bonus of being able to attach/detach a peplum layer. Genius? I think so. Now I need to try and make one.

Bad Romance

Best music video in ages, totally loving the throwback 90's vibe (as in, when people actually put some ingenuity and EFFORT into videos ^_~). Plus, keep your eyes peeled for the fashion orgasm at 3:27.

Bustles and Ruffles to Boost my Bum

So I was watching The Rachel Zoe Project and her enamorment with a certain bustled coat has got me reminiscing of my love affair with all things Neo-Victorian during the summer I was 16 y/o. My lovely friend Sadie immediately shouted Deadwood! A quick Google search put me face-to-face with this lovely and ultra-wearable grey ASOS trench (although it's not available, there are some amazing bustled frocks). Added bonus of the bustle? The extra umph in the derriere (which I definitely need some help with). Check out the side-view on this slightly more dramatic plaid y'all. Me-ow!

For the not so flat-bottomed girls out there, the bustles best bonus still applies; the effortless fierce you stun your admirers with as you walk away. Here's the lovely Maegan exemplifying my point (not quite a bustle, but definitely a great outfit whether you're walking towards, next to, or away from her). I have a self-professed problem with dressing from all angles, and the bustle is my heaven sent! Needless to say a jacket with an amazing back detail is surely at the top of my to-buy list!

Currently coveting

I'm currently coveting Patricia Field's gold bar bracelets. The gold finish makes them versatile so I can wear them with nearly every quirky print and textured frock I own, but the architectural feel makes them interesting and funky enough to dress up neutrals. Pretty fabulous no?

Incongruity is what makes me interesting?

So continuing on the "heinously biting fashion from films" trend, I've been trying to play with an updated Princess Mononoke inspired ensemble. Particularly, I'm looking for a moderately spiked bone collar necklace. The other pieces can be easily improvised, like for example, leaving my own wild mane down as an alternative to her fur headdress. I dig the classic silhouette and simple colors (or lack thereof).

Another looming style choice bobbing around in my oversized head is the concept of clashing patterns. None of the "one bold print, one subtle print" nonsense, but straight up "those two things don't, and should not, go together, EVER". Alright, alright, so not quite as dramtic as the sartorial bravado of these runway outfits, but dangerously close.

Before I see this shit in Lucky

I want Liza's hair in Cabaret, and when my face thins out for it I'm chopping it all off.
